“I want to increase my income.”
“I want to save more for the future.”
Even though you genuinely feel that way…
somehow, nothing changes.
You work hard—both at your job and at home—
and yet you don’t feel like you’re moving forward the way you hoped.
Have you ever felt that frustration?
In many cases, the reason isn’t
“a problem with money itself.”
Rather, it’s the mental brakes hidden deep in your mindset.

Why We Unconsciously Choose to “Stay the Same”
Even when we want to increase our income,
a quiet voice inside us may be saying:
- “If I work more, I’ll lose my free time.”
- “I’m afraid my taxes will go up.”
- “I don’t want people to think I’m greedy.”
- “I’m worried that more responsibility will feel overwhelming.”
These feelings are completely human.
But when they become strong,
our mind unconsciously decides that
“it’s safer not to change.”
As a result, we stop taking action—
and our situation stays exactly the same.
A Psychological Perspective: Our Actions Are Driven Not by “Causes” but by “Purposes”
In Adlerian psychology, it is said that
“People act based on purpose, not cause.”
This means that statements like:
- “I don’t have enough time.”
- “It’s just not the right timing.”
may sound like reasons,
but in many cases, they reflect a deeper purpose—
a desire to protect the comfort of the current situation
and avoid the anxiety that change may bring.
This isn’t a flaw.
It’s a natural human response to maintain emotional stability.
My Personal Experience: A Childhood Regret That Became the Source of My Action
When I was growing up,
I had a moment when I didn’t have the courage to take action —
and I deeply regretted it.
I can still remember exactly how it felt.
From that experience, I learned two powerful lessons:
- If you don’t take action, you gain neither results nor learning.
- Opportunities—like waves—never come in exactly the same form again.
The feeling of “I want to try this”
is like catching a high wave at the perfect moment.
If too much time passes,
your circumstances, your motivation, and even your energy naturally change.
In life, it’s common to think:
- “I’ll study someday.”
- “I’ll try it when the timing feels right.”
- “I’ll change when I’m more prepared.”
But while we are postponing,
life shifts around us,
and taking action often becomes even harder than before.
That’s why I value the mindset of
doing what I can “now,” so I won’t regret it later.
Action has the power to change both your life and your finances.
Of course, taking action doesn’t guarantee success every time.
But —
there is always something to learn from every step you take.
And those lessons make your next decisions stronger and wiser.
On the other hand, if you don’t take action,
your current situation simply continues.
So if you’re feeling even a small desire to “change a little”
or “move forward,”
that feeling is an important sign — one you shouldn’t ignore.
